SpizzEnergi - Friday 1st October 2021
It's 40 odd years now since the joyous release of Where’s Captain Kirk? on Rough Trade Records which sat at number 1 in the inaugural issue of
the Independent Singles Chart across the winter of 1980 for a whopping 7 weeks.
In celebration it was recently reissued on a special edition 7 inch Vulcan Green Vinyl as a covermount on Electronic Sound Magazine (January 2020 edition) and the song again received much radio airplay. A full calendar of bookings were to follow including successful shows at the Garage in London and at Liverpool Jimmy’s before sadly being curtailed by the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The virus didn't stop Spizz and the boys and Christmas 2020 saw the the release of “Christmas in Denmark’, a festive tribute to the great tin-pan alley and a song about the potential threat to the UK’s cultural and musical heritage, recorded remotely during the lockdown and mixed in NYC by the legendary Tony Visconti.
A splendid cover of Bowie's Valentine's Day was to follow, again in cahoots with Visconti. The single charted at Number 3 in the Official Vinyl Singles Charts proving there is still some life in this old punky dog yet!!
